Bengal Gazzetta published in 1780. This start the beginning of Indias first newspaper. James Augustus Hickey was the one who introduced this newspaper. Newspaper was first published in English and also published in Asia. This newspaper published the national and international news including the advertisement. But was discontinued after 2 years only as it strongly condemned the British rule and talked about liberation

Then came times of india in 1861 by Robert Knight. That talked about British news. In 1868 another newspaper came named as Amrit Bazar Patrika. These newspaper talks about liberation. Reform of society , education and for common people.

Before independence newspaper talks about the fight with British and how to win independence. Social issues, the law passed by British. Movement , attack , fight , death and etc struggle and emergence of local awakening. Bringing the news of nation to all in their mother tongue.
